Ford Announces Android Auto & CarPlay Support

Following Hyundai integration of Android Auto and CarPlay about seven months ago, Ford is the latest one to join the smart dashboard party, by announcing support for both Google's Android Auto as well as Apple's CarPlay.

With Android Auto and CarPlay, which were designed with safety in mind, Ford drivers with SYNC-equipped vehicles will be able to use their smartphones in a smarter and safer way and access Maps, Messages, Phone, and Music through either voice commands, which can be activated via steering wheel controls, or the touch screen of the head unit, in order to minimize distraction and keep you focused on the road.

Android Auto and CarPlay will begin rolling out to all 2016 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 later this year. Although, all 2017 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3, starting with the all-new Ford Escape, will get it out of the box.
