WhatsApp Video Calling Officially Announced

Following the announcement of Whatsapp Voice Calling earlier last year, the Facebook-owned cross-platform, encrypted instant messaging client has officially revealed the latest update coming to the WhatsApp application, Video Calling support, as part of its "efforts to connect people".

With Video Calling, over one billion WhatsApp users will finally be able to send test messages, make phone calls, and now video calls to their friends, families, and loved ones across multiple platforms and devices all over the world including Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone devices at no additional cost as long as both parties are connected to a cellular data or a wifi connection.

According to WhatsApp "We’re introducing this feature because we know that sometimes voice and text just aren’t enough. There’s no substitute for watching your grandchild take her first steps, or seeing your daughter’s face while she’s studying abroad. And we want to make these features available to everyone, not just those who can afford the most expensive new phones or live in countries with the best cellular networks.

WhatsApp Video Calling will begin rolling out this week on Android, iOS, and Windows devices across the world.
